Botswana: DCI +0.31%, Vols USD 131k

Gaborone ended the week in positive territory. Sechaba traded 15t higher at 1255t, FNBB closed 4t higher at 290t, Stanchart and and Choppies gained 1t each to finish at 921t and 168t respectively. Letshego was unchanged at 680t.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.06%, Vols USD 944k

The market ended the week on a quieter note with USD944k worth exchanging hands today compared to USD 13m yesterday. MCB traded flat at Rs168 while SBM didn't record any trades. Terra traded flat at Rs37.40 with 129.8k shares exchanging hands out of which 100k were crossed. Insurance company MEI witnessed a cross of 20k shares at Rs70.

Nigeria: ASI -0.46%, Vols USD 16m

Another slow session in Nigeria with activity levels dismal and very little support around, especially for the banks. Zenith was the hardest hit out of the bigger names, losing -3.86% while the other big banks to close in the red were ETI, FBN and UBA. The market opened weaker driven by the banks and this trend persisted for the whole session. Brent is down -3.6% on the day and given how reliant the economy is on oil revenues this just adds another bear to this already quiet market. Expect activities to decrease even further at the start of next week given that the UK is on leave.

South Africa: Top 40 -0.14%, Vols USD 1.64bn

The JSE ended the day slightly lower with the Top 40 Index falling 0.14% to close at 29,161 while value traded amounted to USD 1.64bn. Industrials were the day's biggest losers with the Index falling 0.59% while Resources and Financial's gained 0.49% and 0.02% respectively. The Rand was trading at 8.61 and 10.64 to the USD and EUR respectively by the time local markets closed.

Zambia: LuSE +0.38%, Vols USD 209k

Decent day in Zambia today with value traded amounting to USD 209k thanks to crosses in REIZ and LAFA. The names that traded included CECZ, LAFA, SCBL, ZMBF, ZNCO and ZSUG. REIZ was the biggest contributor towards turnover with value traded in the name amounting to USD 161k. LAFA was the second biggest contributor towards turnover with value traded in the name amounting to USD 44k.

Zimbabwe: Industrial Index -0.17%, Mining's -0.21%, Vols USD 19.6m

Turnover soared to USD 19.6m on the back of special bargains in Delta, Dawn and TPH. The special bargains were as follows , 20m Delta at 70c, 72,951,010 Dawn Properties at 1.2c and 27,272,727 TPH at 11c. Econet continued to receive interest with 286,209 shares trading in the name 420c. On the mining's side, Bindura was the only counter to record trades, closing 0.20c lower at 3c on 3283 shares.
