Vols increased on the BSE with USD 302k worth exchanging hands today. Letshego dominated the vols with 1,099,781 shares trading in the name at 150t, accounting for 70% of the day's turnover. FNBB traded level at 290t. Stanchart gained 3t at 925t. Sefalana was unchanged at 275t.
The Marker ended the day relatively unchanged, leaving the EGX30 to end the day down 0.05% to close at 4,419.04 points. Volumes has improved significantly, market traded a total turnover of USD 50m. The market main focus today was the court ruling regarding political disenfranchisement law and the recent parliament elections. At 2:00pm local time the Egyptian High Court ruled that the political disenfranchisement law is unconstitutional, which means that Presidential hopeful Ahmed Shafiq will continue to participate in after tomorrow's run-off adding this the court ruled that parliament election law was unconstitutional - this would only affect the individual seats in Parliament, which represents third parliament seats.
Investor mix:
• Foreigners were net Sellers by 55.65mn EGP and were 40.74% of the market.
• Egyptians were net Buyers by 55.08mn EGP and were 53.17% of the market.
• Arabs were net Buyers by .567mn EGP and were 6.09% of the market.
• Institutions were net Sellers by 52.52mn EGP and were 49.53% of the market.
• Retail were net Buyers by 52.52mn EGP and were 50.46% of the market.

After yesterday’s upbeat mood things slowed down again today in Nairobi with value traded amounting to a rather somber $2.99m. Safcom was rather active today thanks to a cross of 21m shares that went through relatively early in the session at 3.40 with foreigners being on both sides of the transaction, a total of 31.81m shares traded. There was a bit of activity in EABL with 200k shares traded in the name and no substantial crosses to speak of. Centum was one of the more active stocks today with a total of 900k shares traded in the name, thanks to a few smaller crosses done entirely by locals. Foreigners were net buyers, accounting for $1.56m of total purchases while they accounted for $1.37m of total sales. The market closed in positive territory with the NSE 20 Index gaining 0.40% to close at 3,685.36.
The Semdex improved by 0.07% while the Sem-7 edged up 0.21%. MCB traded 0.6% higher at Rs169 while SBM traded level at Rs82.50. ENL Land lost 0.25% at Rs39.40. Air Mauritius fell by 1.87% at Rs10.50 while NMH and PAD lost 2.56% and 1.41% respectively. The Demex lost 0.96% at 149.28pts. The main losers were QBL and Vital which fell by 10% and 10.45% respectively.
Better day in terms of activity today but still rather quiet with value traded amounting to $10.26m. Guaranty Bank and First Bank were the biggest contributors towards value traded with 6.8m shares and 23.20m shares being crossed in the names respectively. There was also a bit of activity in Access with a total of 15.2m shares being crossed. Nigerian Breweries and Guinness were rather quiet today with a total of 604k shares and 160k shares changing hands in the names respectively. The market closed the day lower with the ASI falling 0.22% to close at 21,251.91 while the Bank10 Index fell 0.67%.
The JSE ended the day lower with the Top 40 Index falling 0.68% to close at 29,845 while value traded amounted to USD 1.15bn. Resources were the day's biggest losers with the Index falling 1.08% followed by Industrials and Financials which fell 0.61% and 0.44% respectively. The Rand was trading at 8.41 and 10.60 to the USD and EUR respectively by the time local markets closed.
Another quiet day in Zambia with value traded amounting to USD39k. The names that traded included AELZ, CECZ, LAFA, REIZ, SCBL and ZNCO. LAFA was the biggest contributor towards turnover with value traded in the name amounting to USD 20k. ZNCO was the second biggest contributor towards turnover with value traded in the name amounting to USD 12k.
The Industrial index inched up +0.02% to end the day at 131.99pts. RTG led the risers for the day after rising 25% to 2.5c while Pioneer followed with a +10% gain to 5.5c. BAT continued to enjoy the market nod rising +8.33% to 260c while OKZIM was up +4.5%. Losses were however seen in Pelhams that lost -12.94% to 0.74c. Other counters to lose included TA -10% at 9c, Ariston down -8.6% at 1.6c and National Foods that came off -8.3% to 110c. RioZim saw their fortunes dive further losing +11.1% to 40c and with it drove the mining index down -2.91% to 81.39pts. The rest of the mining were unchanged.
