We witnessed revived interest in the market, hopefully this will continue in todays the session.

Kenya

•  NSE20 -2bps, $6.8mill
•  Selling activity was mainly skewed towards BAT and Safaricom

The market opened the day very quiet today ahead of the national budget reading later in the afternoon. Excise tax on alcohol and cigarettes is expected to be raised. EABL is up slightly on thin volumes while there are no trades on BAT. EABL has put an advertisement in the media announcing the start of a sales promotion. NIC Bank is the largest mover, with 38,000 shares, up 5.98% to KES 54 on the latest trades - but average price is at 51.24. Centum notched 0.8% higher on 27,000 shares ahead of results due next week, with speculation that the company will make a bonus issue exciting the market. KCB retreated 0.9% on 29,400 shares. Scangroup is up 7.6% on thin volumes. Barclays is unchanged on thin volumes. CIC Insurance, continued looking weak, now down 2.6% so far.
