A massive cross in ABCH at 505t the talk of the town on a very active day in Gaborone. Smaller participants crossed decent size blocks in Sechaba (1900t) and Letshego (235t).
Foreign investors were highly active again today on both sides of the equation. The foreign buying has meant stability in the likes of Safcom (KES 10.05), EABL (KES 290) and KNCB (KES 44.50) while Equity Bank remains under pressure and lost a further 2.3% to KES 31.50.
Dull end to the week in Port Louis although further strength in MCB (+1.2%, Rs209.50) pulled the market higher while SBM lost 95bps to Rs1.04.
Another active day in Lagos although the market gave back most of yesterday’s gains. Banks fell by 68bps with Zenith reversing the 6% outperformance from yesterday by losing 1.76% to N22.90 while FBNH fell by 2.4% to N16.10. Consumers lost 1.4% although most of this can be attributed to the silly closing price rule in Lagos which meant the name closed down 3.85% at N62.50 despite trading strongly for most of the day. NB also slipped by 3.85% to N161.50 while Nestle lost 41bps to N1185.10 on big volumes.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The JSE closed in the green today while the Rand remains vulnerable. ZAR was trading at R10.37, R17.00 and R14.19 vs the USD, GBP and EUR respectively at the time of writing .
A spectacular rebound today on the ZSE as we saw green numbers for the first time in 11 sessions. Perhaps the National Budget is being viewed in a positive light. Econet remained resilient at the 61.99c level while we saw solid gains in Delta (+3.6%, 140c), Innscor (+7%, 80c), OK Zim (+0.50%, 20.1c) and CBZ (+2%, 15.31c).
