Another quiet day ahead of the 2 day Christmas break with foreign investors largely non-existent. Almost the only foreign activity was on the sell side of EABL as the name closed marginally higher at KES 290. KNCB was in strong demand from locals albeit on tiny volumes yet the name gained 3.93% to KES 46.25 while Equity Bank saw some mild activity and closed unchanged at KES 31.00.

A shortened session for Christmas eve yet still a fairly active session as crosses dominated proceedings. Banks gained 70bps with strength in ETI (+3.2%, N15.99), FCMB (+5.45%, N3.48) and Skye (+6.25%, N4.25) the main outperformers. Consumers fell by 75bps as weakness in NB (-1.91%, N161.85) and Dangote Sugar (-1.74%, N11.30) weighed on the sector. Transcorp once again saw chunky activity and closed up an impressive 7.85% at N4.48.
