Botswana: DCI unch, Vols USD 44k

The market closed the day flat with the DCI closing unchanged at 6,966.86 while value traded amounted to USD 44k.Imara (230, +20) was the only name to trade higher on the day. FSG (140, -8) Letlole (116, -4) and Primetime (189, -1) were the only stocks to close lower.

BRVM: BRVM Composite -0.49%, BRVM 10 -0.46%, Vols USD 307k

The market closed the day lower with the BRVM Composite falling 0.49% to close at 140.99 while the BRVM 10 fell 0.46% to close at 162.02. Value traded amounted to USD 307k.UNIWAX was the day's biggest gainer, rallying 13.20% to close at XOF 9,005. CIE was the day's biggest loser falling 12.28% to close at XOF 16,500.

Egypt: EGX 30 +0.82%, Vols USD 29m

The market managed to traded in positive territory, leaving the EGX30 to end the day 0.82% higher , to close at 3766.17 points. Market volume remains weak but an improvement to resent market volumes, market traded a total turnover of USD 29m. Market managed to break its record low volumes, with non Arab foreign investors and local investors as net-buyers, targeting mostly the EGX30 stocks. Names such as OCIC and TMGH continues to gain investors interest, each ending the day up 1.45% and 5.03% respectively, to close at EGP213.78 and EGP3.13. COMI ended the day against market sentiment, the name traded lead the market in terms of volumes, to end the day down 0.60%.

•  Foreigners were net Buyers by 2.89 mn EGP and were 25.79% of the market.
•  Egyptians were net Buyers by 7.33 mn EGP and were 66.72% of the market.
•  Arabs were net Sellers by 10.23 mn EGP and were 7.48% of the market.

•  Retail were net Buyers by 0.943 mn EGP and were 62.52% of the market.

Ghana: 43k

Value traded on the Ghanaian Stock Exchange amounted to USD 43k.GCB was the biggest contributor towards value traded (30.57%) with the name closing at 1.95 CEDI. AYRTON was the second biggest contributor towards value traded (23.82%) with the counter closing at 0.17 CEDI.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.63%, Vols USD 1.13m

The market ended the day higher with the NSE 20 Index gaining 0.63% while value traded amounted to USD 1.13m. Foreign purchases accounted for USD 602k of total purchases while foreign sales accounted for USD 182k of total sales. ARM was the biggest contributor towards value traded (USD 255k) with the name closing at 156.00. Safcom was the second biggest contributor towards value traded (USD 185k) with the counter closing at 3.15. COOP closed the day at 12.95 and was the third biggest contributor towards value traded (USD 107k).

Mauritius: Semdex -0.36%, Vols USD 897k

The market ended the day lower with the Semdex falling 0.36% to close at 1,877.36 while value traded amounted to USD 897k. Both MCB and SBM fell 0.60% to close at 165.00 and 83.50. NMH fell 1.22% to close at 81.00 while Rogers gained 0.92% to close at 330.00. ENL gained 0.47% to close at 42.40 while Terra closed the day unchanged at 38.20.

Nigeria: ASI -0.12%, Vols USD 4.05m

The market closed the day lower with the ASI falling 0.12% to close at 20,881 while value traded amounted to USD 4.05m. The major Indices moved as follows today: FBT 10 + 0.02%, NSE 30 -0.14%, OILG +1.43%, INS 10 -0.56% and BNK 10 -0.80%. Guinness, ETI, First Bank, Zenith Bank and Nigerian Breweries were the biggest contributors towards value traded.

South Africa: Top 40 -0.70%, Vols USD 1.36bn

The JSE ended the day lower with the Top 40 Index falling 0.70% to close at 29,276 while value traded amounted to USD 1.36bn. Industrials were the day's biggest losers with the Index falling 1.01% followed by Resources and Financials which fell 0.30% and 0.21% respectively. The Rand was trading at 8.13 and 10.33 to the USD and EUR respectively by the time local markets closed.

Zambia: LuSE +0.03%, Vols USD 13k

The market recorded a turnover of USD 13,828. The counters that traded today included BATA, CECZ, FQM, INVE, LAFA, PUMA and ZMBF. The biggest contributor towards turnover was ZMBF, 11,472 shares traded at an average price of ZMK 2,950.1, turnover amounted to USD 6,768. The second biggest contributor towards turnover was FQM, 4,000 shares traded at an average price of ZMK 4,400, turnover amounted to USD 3,600.

Zimbabwe: Industrials +0.02%, Mining +4.92%, Vols USD 1.56m

The Industrial Index gained 0.02% on the back of impressive gains in AFRE (+16.67%), AFRICA SUN (+22%) and TA (+20.83%). Other gainers were CBZ, EDGARS, FIDELITY, INNSCOR, MEIKLES and OLDMUTUAL. The index had 9 gainers and 8 losers, with STAR AFRICA retreating the most by slidding 16.36%. The Mining Index gained 4.92%, spurred by trades in coal mining giant HWANGE (+7.14% at 30c).
