Botswana: DCI -0.09%, Vols USD 825k

The market closed the day lower with the DCI falling 0.09% to close at 6,959.39 while value traded amounted to USD 825k. G4S (606, +6) was the only name to close in positive territory. FNBB (263, -2), Furnmart (154, -5) and Primetime (187, -2) were the only counters to close lower.

Egypt: Market closed for the day

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.37%, Vols USD 1.65m

The market ended the day lower with the NSE 20 Index falling 0.37% while value traded amounted to USD 1.65m. Foreign purchases accounted for USD 1.30m of total purchases while foreign sales accounted for USD 1.23m of total sales. Safcom was the biggest contributor towards value traded (USD 1.07m) with the name closing at 3.20. EQBNK was the second biggest contributor towards value traded (USD 185) with the counter closing at 15.90. NMG closed the day at 134.00 and was the third biggest contributor towards value traded (USD 126k).

Mauritius: Semdex +0.10%, Vols USD 342k

The market ended the day higher with the Semdex gaining 0.10% to close at 1,873.14 while value traded amounted to USD 342k. MCB gained 0.61% to close at 166.00 while SBM closed the day unchanged at 83.00. Both NMH and Rogers ended the day flat at 80.00 and 330.00 respectively. ENL closed unchanged at 42.20 while Terra gained 0.52% to clos eat 38.40.

Nigeria: ASI -0.19%, Vols USD 2.42m

The market closed the day lower with the ASI falling 0.19% to close at 20,884.03 while value traded amounted to USD 2.42m. The major Indices moved as follows today: FBT 10 -0.12%, NSE 30 -0.26%, OILG unch, INS 10 unch and BNK 10 -0.93%. Diamond Bank, Dangote Sugar, ETI, Zenith Bank and First Bank were the biggest contributors towards value traded.

South Africa: Top 40 -0.34%, Vols USD 1.24bn

The JSE ended the day lower with the Top 40 Index falling 0.34% to close at 29,333 while value traded amounted to USD 1.24bn. Resources were the day's biggest losers with the Index falling 0.45% followed by Industrials which fell 0.47% while Financials gained 0.10%. The Rand was trading at 8.21 and 10.35 to the USD and EUR respectively by the time local markets closed.

Zambia: LuSE +1.49%, Vols USD 102k

The market recorded a turnover of USD 102,840. The counters that traded today included CECZ, INVE, PMDZ, PUMA, SCBL, ZNCO and ZSUG. The biggest contributor towards turnover was PUMA, 421,580 shares traded at an average price of ZMK 950, turnover amounted to USD 96,541. The second biggest contributor towards turnover was ZSUG, 97,050 shares traded at an average price of ZMK 213.49, turnover amounted to USD 4,143.

Zimbabwe: Industrials unch, Mining -0.16%, Vols USD 17.9m

Value traded amounted to a rather large 17.9m today thanks to Delta, wth 24.4m shares trading in the name at 0.70 which equates to USD 17.12m. The Industrial Index closed the day unchanged at 140.43 while the Mining Index fell 0.16% to close at 82.76. There was also a bit of volume in Fidelity today with 973k shares changing hands at 0.1910 (USD 185k).
