A much quieter session in Kenya, as is often the case on a Friday. Foreign participation also waned somewhat. Mauritius: Semdex +0.07%, USD 518k

Extremely slow day to end the week in Port Louis as value traded amounted to USD 518k. MCB was the only name worth mentioning as the banking heavyweight accounted for nearly 50% of today's turnover with the counter closing flat at 194.25. SBM was very quiet as 1.7m shares changed hands.

Nigeria: ASI +0.26%, USD 15.84m

The general buying trend continues today although on a much more muted scale. In fact, the highest turnover stock that traded was Transcor which traded over $3m worth of stock. Outside of this, the market was generally lethargic. Banks rose by 13bps with performance mixed across the sector. Consumers were up 83bps with strength in Unilever (+2.54%, N61.01), Cadbury (+2.13%, N48) and NB (+2.13%, N173) the main drivers behind this strength. However, outside of NB the sector was very quiet.
