Botswana: DCI +0.04%, USD 194k

Another quiet day in Botswana and once again almost all the activity took place in Choppies as they name finally moved from 305t and closed at 306t.

Egypt: EGX 30 +0.41%, USD 106m

The market traded with a mixed sentiment today to end the day in higher, leaving the EGX30 to end the day up 0.41% to close 6,095.13 points. The market continues to trade weaker volumes relative to recent market turnover, the market traded a total turnover of USD 106m in which more than 43% was attributed to one cross in PIOH. The market started the day with a negative sentiment with local and international institutions as net sellers perusing the market to reach a low of 6,033.39 points, yet in the last hour of trading local and international institutions managed to turn be net buyers changing the market sentiment to trade in the greens, targeting names such as EKHO, PHDC and OTMT each ending the up 3.33%, 1.73% and 1.49% respectively. It’s worth mentioning COMI witnessed notable buying accumulation towards the end of session to print at 41.98(+1.01%), yet VWAP was already pressured which left the name to end the day down -0.17%.

Kenya: Market did not open today due to technical issues.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.69%, USD 3.05m

Some decent activity for a change in SBM (+1.98%, Rs1.03) and NMH (+1.14%, Rs89) as some aggressive buyers came into the market. Also rising were MCB (+61bps, Rs206) and Terra (+99bps, Rs40.90).

Nigeria: ASI +0.63%, USD 20.05m

The bulls returned to the Lagos bourse in style today. Banks were mixed as the sector closed down 35bps with almost all the action in the sector taking place, as usual, in the Tier 1 names. Banks also continue to release their results and today we saw releases from Stanbic (+4.45%, N19.95), Fidelity (-1.10%, N2.70), Access Bank (-1.80%, N9.80), Skye Bank (-68nps, N4.37) and Diamond Bank (+76bps, N6.60). Consumers saw some really aggressive buyers as the sector rose by 1.49%, led higher mostly by NB (+3.86%, N173.50). Wapco (+4.26%, N105.30) also saw strong buying after releasing strong results yesterday.

South Africa: Top 40 +0.10%, USD 1.06bn

The JSE ended the day higher with the Top 40 Index gaining 0.10% to close at 40,596 while value traded amounted to USD 1.06bn. Both Resoources and Industrials were the day's top gainers and managed to rally 0.13% followed by Financials which gained 0.01% respectively. The Rand was trading at 9.86 and 13.61 to the USD and EUR respectively by the time local markets closed.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.04%, Mining unch, USD 1.21m

Turnover remained above the psychological $1m mark in Tuesday trades closing at $1.21m which is 40% softer on the prior session. This was achieved against an agregate sales volume of 18.89m shares that sailed through in 30 active counters. Property company Pearl was the most traded stock after a block of 15,076,000m shares valued at $452,280 exchanged hands. This constituted 37% and 80% of the total value and volume traded respectively. The trade comes a day after peer property concern Dawn realized a 70,5m shares trade worth $0.92m. Pearl has seen a couple of blocks being exchanged in the previous weeks which is material enough to cause significant shareholders changes. The industrial index continued to weaken shedding 0.04% to 209.02pts. BAT, Innscor and Barclays collectively outmaouvered 11 risers in dragging the market lower. BAT suffered the worst losing -8% to 1100c. Innscor eased 2.38% to 82c with bids coming in as low as 80c while Baclays closed 2.3% lower at 3.2c. Delta remained stable at 135c ahead of its results presentation on the 14th of November, while Econet which presented its interim today also returned a previous close of 60c. In the interims revenue was up 11% at $376.6m while subscribers surged 22% to 8.5m. The group expects innovation to drive future performance and consolidate the group’s value.
