Botswana: DCI +0.37%, Vols USD 332k

Gaborone ended the week on improved vols with USD 332k worth exchanging hands today. FSG was the day's top trader with 90% of the day's turnover. 1,494,359 shares traded in the name at 139t & 145t. Engen lost 5t to 548t. Letshego saw 500 shares trade at 150t. FNBB was unchanged at 280t.

Egypt: Closed today

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.28%, Vols USD 3.46m

A mostly inactive session to end the week. The only real highlight was a cross in KNCB which went through at KES 24 about 10 minutes before the close. The cross accounted for about 50% of the days vols with foreign participants solely on the buy side with local selling. KNCB closed up 1.06% at KES23.75 while EqBnk had a quiet day yet closed up 125bps at KES 20.25. EABL also had some local selling and foreign buying and closed up 93bps at KES216.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.02%, Vols USD 1.1m

The market closed the week in the green recording turnover of USD 1.1m. Banking stocks MCB and SBM traded level at Rs167 and Rs80 respectively. NMH lost 0.69% at Rs71.50. Rogers traded 3.03% higher at Rs340. ENL Land witnessed a cross of 86,300 shares at Rs38.90. Terra was down 0.25% at Rs39.50. MUA posted a 1.6% loss at Rs121 on 100 shares traded. On the Dem side, DRBC closed level at Rs29 though vwap was at Rs29.1842. Fuel traded at Rs29.60.

Nigeria: ASI -0.44%, Vols USD 17.96m

A second consecutive quiet day in Lagos with some action in GTB just before the close ramping up vols. The banking sector saw some buying come back with the BNK10 +70bps led higher by UBA (+4.96%). Skye Bank went ex div today and the name traded at N3.35 all session. GTB saw some heavy activity just before the close with more than 62mill shares trading at N16.2488. The consumer sector was relatively quiet with NB and Guinness both closing unchanged while the Dangote Group had a good day, DangSuga and Dangflou both +5%.

South Africa: All Share +0.60%, Vols USD 1.28bn

The JSE ended the day higher with the Top 40 index gaining 0.60% to close at 30,076 while value traded amounted to USD 1.28bn. Financials were the day's biggest gainers with the Index gaining 0.66% followed by Industrials and Resources which gained 0.64% and 0.27% respectively. The Rand was trading at 8.08 and 10.45 to the USD and EUR respectively by the time local markets closed.

Zambia: LuSE +2.30%, Vols USD 60k

Quiet day in Lusaka with value traded amounting to USD 60k. The names that traded included INVE, LAFA, REIZ, SCBL, ZABR, ZNCO and ZSUG. LAFA was the biggest contributor towards turonver with value traded in the name amounting to USD 38k. ZNCO was the second biggest contributor towards turnover with value traded in the name amounting to USD 8k.

Zimbabwe: Industrial +0.06%, Mining -2.50%, Vols USD 1.61m

Decent day in Harare with value traded amounting to a satisfactory USD 1.61m thanks to a cross of 1.5m Delta at 0.70 after the company reported better than expected results on Wednesday. The Industrial sector closed the day rather flat with the Index gaining 0.06% to close at 130.28. The Mining Index fell 2.50% to close at 86.80 as a result of falls in the likes of Bindura and RioZim.
