Botswana: DCI +0.09%, Vols USD 162k

Gaborone ended the week marginally higher. Turnover stood at USD 162k. Letshego saw 328,028 shares trade in the name at 150t. Choppies picked up 1t to 164t. NAP gave-up 5t at 225t on thins.

Egypt: Closed today

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.91%, Vols USD 7.56m

Extremely active day in Nairobi to end the week thanks to a number of large crosses in the blue chips with value traded amounting to $7.56m. Kenya Commercial Bank led from the front in terms of value traded with a cross of 5m shares going through midway through the session with foreigners being on both sides of the transaction, a total of 10.69m shares changed hands in the name. Safcom was also very active with 41.66m shares traded as a result of a cross of 35m shares at 3.25 with both the buyer and the seller being foreign. There was a big cross in Athi River Mining today with the buyer being foreign while the seller was local, a total of 470k shares traded in the counter. Foreigners were net buyers and accounted for $5.65m of total purchases while they accounted for $4.42m of total sales. The market closed in negative territory with the NSE 20 index falling 0.91% to close at 3,634.85.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.03%, Vols USD 2.7m

The market was characterised by increased vols with the official market recording turnover of Rs69.1m. MCB accounted for 50% of the day's turnover with 206,278 shares trading in the name at Rs169. SBM saw 155,400 shares trade 0.60% lower at Rs83.50. Gamma Civic witnessed crosses of 13.1k shares at Rs350 and 6k at Rs335 with the stock ending the day 4.5% higher at Rs350. BBCL was unchanged at Rs9.40. Hotel stocks ended the day level. Terra lost 1.6% to Rs38. The Dem's turnover reached Rs11.9m on the back of a cross in CIEL which traded 1.7% higher at Rs3.

Nigeria: ASI +0.06%, Vols USD 19m

Not much conviction today with the mkt strolling along sideways. The bigger banks accounted for most of the activity with mixed results in terms of closing prices, FBN was the lone gainer +1.88% while ETI, GTB and Zenith all lost smalls. Fidelity released good results today, the name closed +4.72% better off. DangF had another day where it moved the maximum amount allowed - it was northward today, +5% to N6.09. Foreign participation was slightly lower today with the split around 70/30 in favour of foreign. Please note that Tuesday has been declared a holiday, Democracy day.

South Africa: Top -0.22%, Vols USD 1.35bn

The JSE ended the day lower with the Top 40 Index falling 0.22% to close at 29,074 while value traded amounted to USD 1.35bn. Resources were the day's biggest losers with the Index falling 0.66% followed by Financials which fell 0.25% while Industrials gained 0.17%. The Rand was trading at 8.35 and 10.48 to the USD and EUR respectively by the time local markets closed.
