Botswana: DCI +0.01%, Vols USD 90k

The market remained flat recording turnover of approx USD 90k. Letshego contributed to 84% of the day's turnover with 368,798 shares trading at 150t. Choppies and Furnmart picked up 1t piece to end at 162t and 152t respectively. FNBB traded 5t higher at 285t.

Egypt: EGX 30 -0.29%, Vols USD 35m

The market ended the day slightly lower, leaving the EGX30 to end the day down 0.29%, to close at 4864.18 points. Volumes were notably weak , market traded a total turnover of USD 35mm. Volatility continued throughout the day today in Egyptian blue-chips as institutional investors (International) continue to book profits, on the back of political instability as we get closer towards the presidential election. Names such as HRHO and COMI lead the market in terms of volumes, each ending the day down 0.62% and 0.70% respectively.

Investor mix:
•  Foreigners were net Sellers by 57.86 mn EGP and were 27.87% of the market.
•  Egyptians were net Buyers by 46.61 mn EGP and were 62.39% of the market.
•  Arabs were net Buyers by 11.25 mn EGP and were 9.74% of the market.
•  Institutions were net Sellers by 32.20 mn EGP and were 43.44% of the market.
•  Retail were net Buyers by 32.20 mn EGP and were 56.55% of the market.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.98%, Vols USD 2.46m

Fairly muted day in Nairobi today with value traded amounting to $2.46m. EABL was the biggest contributor towards value traded with 227k shares changing hands in the name thanks to a few decent crosses. Safcom was also rather active with a number of crosses going through and a total of 10.21m shares traded. KNCB went ex-div today and closed at 21.75 with 1.3m shares traded. Foreigners were net buyers accounting for $1.77m of total purchases while they accounted for $590k of total sales. The market closed the day lower with the NSE 20 index falling 0.98% to close at 3,672.36.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.14%, Vols USD 2.5m

Another busy day in Mauritius with the market recording turnover of USD 2.5m. Turnover was geared towards the banking stocks which recorded several crosses today. 119,771 shares traded in MCB 0.59% higher at Rs170 while SBM saw 328,392 shares trade in the name at Rs84. ENL Land lost 0.26% at Rs39 while Terra gave-up 1.28% at Rs38.50. A cross of 14k GCL brought its share price down 10.1%at Rs340.

Nigeria: ASI +0.15%, Vols USD 23.26m

Another day in Lagos characterized by a few crosses in specific names. Total NL was again the highest traded stock with more than 8.7mill shares exchanging hands today at an unchanged price of N132.01. NB also saw some good action with more than 3.1mill shares trading and the name closing up 85bps at N110. The banking sector found some buying interest as the BNK10 closed up 74bps with most action taking place in FBN, GTB and UBA. FCMB was the main contributor to the sector strength as the name closed up 4.42% at N4.49, breaking its recent run of weakness. Shareholders of the bank voted for a bonus issue of 3 shares for every 20 held as well as voted for the company to establish a holding company to comply with CBN regulations. After today’s session closed Sanusi was on the tapes announcing unchanged rates from the MPC.

South Africa: Top 40 +1.35%, Vols USD 1.18bn

The JSE ended the day higher with the Top 40 Index gaining 1.35% to close at 29,538 while value traded amounted to USD 1.18bn. Resources were the day's biggest gainers with the Index gaining 1.80% followed by Financials and Industrials which gained 1.50% and 0.84% respectively. The Rand was trading at 8.26 and 10.51 to the USD and EUR respectively by the time local markets closed.

Zambia: LuSE +1.45%, Vols USD 146k

Better day in terms of activity in Zambia today with value traded amounting to USD 146k thanks to a cross in ZSUG. The names that traded included BATZ, CEC, LAFA, SCBL, ZMBF, ZNCO and ZSUG. ZSUG was the biggest contributor towards turnover with value traded in the name amounting to USD 98k. ZMBF was the second biggest contributor towards turnover with value traded in the name amounting to USD 28k.

Zimbabwe: Industrial +0.79%, Mining Unch, Vols USD 1.3m

Harare was characterised by increased vols today, with the market recording turnover of USD 1.3m. Barclays and Econet were the day's top traders accounting for 81% of the turnover. 17m shares exchanged hands in Barclays at 3c in trades worth $512,718 while Econet saw 128,630 shares trade at 4.20c. Innscor increased by +5.34% to 61.11c . CBZ edged up +14.12% to 8c with other notable gains recorded in TA +0.91% to 11.1c, Edgars +3.9% to 7.7c and ZBFH + 0.91% to 11.1c. AICO led the losers after losing -4% at 12c while Meikles followed after coming off -3.85% to 12.5c. Padenga and Pearl completed the fallers list after shedding -1.79% and -0.36% to close at 5.5c and 2.79c respectively.
