Botswana: DCI -0.07%, USD 1.36m

Another solid day in Gaborone thanks to a large cross in Choppies (2.73m shares) as turnover amounted to $1.36m while the rest of the market was quiet.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.73%, USD 11.1m

Activity picked up today as turnover amounted to $11.1m thanks to an increase in foreign participation (61.9%). A few large foreign crosses in EABL dominated proceedings as 709k shares changed hands with the brewer closing -0.9% lower. EQBNK closed unchanged on some decent volume as 3.54m shares traded. Local selling put pressure on Centum as the name fell -0.8% on 2.51m shares. Safcom was rather quiet today with some foreigners taking profit as the telco closed -2.3% lower.

Mauritius: Closed for the day.

Nigeria: ASI -2.21%, USD 37.01m

Another active day in Lagos as turnover amounted to $37.01m with some big crosses in the likes of GTB ($9.74m), Nestle ($8.31m), FBNH ($4.84m), ETI ($3.28m) and NB ($3.06m). Banks closed the day lower with the Index falling -1.28% as UBA (-2.66%), GTB (-2.67%) and Access (-2.03%) dragged the sector lower. Consumers (-2.93%) took strain as the likes of PZ Cussons (-6.21%), Guinness (-5.00%) and NB (-5.00%) came under pressure. Cements were also weak as DangCem and WAPCO fell -3.82% and -1.04% respectively.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.08%, USD 1.21m

Activity returned somewhat to the Harare bourse. The bulk of the action took place in Seedco (97c) followed by Econet (64.5c) and Old Mutual (240c).
