A chunky cross in Sechaba (2100t) was the main focal point today in Gaborone. There was also some trading in Letshego (216t).
Nothing particularly exciting to end the week in Nairobi. There was some crossing action in KNCB (+1.5%, KES34.75) which accounted for about 1/3 of the total market turnover. The only other name to show a modicum of trading was Safcom which gained 30bps to KES18.00.
A very solid day to end the week in Port Louis thanks as per usual to market heavyweight MCBG as 187k shares changed hands in the name while there was also some decent activity in Air Mauritius as 1.7m shares traded after the airliner declared a dividend of Rs1 per share.
The highlight of the day was an off-market cross in Mobil, whereby 216m shares changed hands at N417.12 ($286m). This was as a result of NIPCO's aquisition of EXXON Mobil's stake in Mobil. Elsewhere, there was some decent activity in Seplat ($6.5m) and Zenith ($3.1m). Banking stocks closed the day -0.48% lower with GTB (-1.78%) dragging the sector lower. Consumers (-0.87%) closed the day lower on small volume.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A slow end to the week in Harare with some activity in Simbisa ($271k) the only name worth mentioning.
