Another dull day in Gaborone.
Local investors continue to dominate the Kenyan bourse with locals skewed to the sell side ahead of year end. The most active stock was KNCB which saw 100% local selling yet still closed up 90bps at KES59.00 on back of aggressive foreign buying while EqBnk gained 2% to KES51.00 although this price appreciation was driven by local investors. Safcom was also active with local investors heavily involved on both sides (+40bps, KES14.10). EABL was much quieter but still gained 1.3% to KES309.00.
A rather dull day in Port Louis with the bulk of the action taking place in SBMH (unch, Rs1.02) while MCBG closed unchanged at Rs198.00.
A rather active day in Lagos with some large crosses taking place. Banks slipped by 2.12% with most names closing in the red. Activity was led by Zenith (-4.28%, N19.00), GTB (-72bps, N26.07) and ETI (unch, N18.00) while the biggest faller was UBA (-8.91%, N4.50). The consumers gained 3.99% led by Nestle (+4.82%, N1043) with a massive trade going through earlier in the session (both sides local) while NB (+4.97%, N169.00) and Guinness (+6.62%, N170.00) were also strong. Please note that the market is open for shorted hours tomorrow due to New Years Eve and will close at 12pm local time.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Some decent activity today in Harare after yesterdays dull day. The bulk of the action took place in Delta (105c) and Seedco (97c).
