Nothing to report from Gaborone.
A quiet end to a quiet month in Kenya as the day never really got going. Foreigner participants were generally quiet and skewed to the sell side. The only real activity today took place in EABL (unch, KES268) and KNCB (-60bps, KES39.75) while many names hardly traded at all.
An exceptionally quiet day in Port Louis. The only real activity was some mild trading in NMH which regained some of last week's heavy losses as the hotel stock rose by 1.9% to Rs21.40.
The Lagos bourse was on track for probably the quietest day on record until some very late crosses in Access Bank (local) helped volumes increase to $7.4m. Access Bank (+75bps, N4.05) accounted for almost 40% of the total market turnover. In normal trading we saw the banks rise by 43bps while the consumers fell by 45bps. Outside of the Access crosses the only decent volume went through in Zenith (-2.47%, N11.07). DangCem closed up 5% (N141.75) albeit on tiny volumes ahead of tomorrow's results announcement.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
