Movers & Shakers: September 29, 2016

Botswana: Market closed for the day.

Kenya: NSE 20 +1.26%, USD 4.8m

A generally uninspiring day in Nairobi. The bulk of the action was a cross in BCBL (unch, KES7.90). Normal trading activities were rather dull with just KNCB (+5.9%, KES27.00) moving the needle.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.31%, USD 560k

Another uneventful day in Mauritius. Most of the stocks were quiet with SBMH (+1.4%, Rs0.70) accounting for about half the total market turnover.

Nigeria: ASI +0.04%, USD 5.8m

You know things are desperate when the highlight of the day is a cross in CONTINSU. As has been the case in recent weeks the index does not know whether to go up or down and normal trading remains muted. Banks closed down 66bps with GTB (-2.25%, N24.34) the main mover. Consumers were broadly unchanged with an early cross in Intbrew (unch, N20.00) the only stock that really traded.

Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.42%, USD 1.8m

Another day with some reasonable trading in Harare. The lion’s share of this went through in Delta (60c).
