Another large cross in BATK (foreign buyer/ local seller) was the highlight of the day as 1.17m shares traded in the counter while the rest of the market remains relatively quiet. Foreign purchases pushed Safcom (+0.3%) slightly higher as 16.3m shares traded in the telco. KNCB and EQBNK were very quiet as 868k and 597k shares traded in the names respectively.
A very solid day in Port Louis as turnover amounted to $4m thanks mostly to some action in MCBG as 537k shares traded in the counter after releasing FY 2015 results after the session yesterday. There was some small activity in SBMH (11.9m shares).
A much better day to end the quarter in Lagos as turnover amounted to $26m. Activity was rather broad based (for a changed), but some of the more active stocks were WAPCO ($2.8m), NB ($2.8m), DangCem ($2.5m) and UACN ($2.5m). The market was driven higher thanks mostly to DangCem (+4.65%), but consumers (+0.34%) also had a good day thanks to UACN (+1.61%) and Nestle (+1.20%). Banks (-0.54%) closed lower as GTB (-1.15%) and Zenith (-1.18%) were a drag on the sector.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
An absolutely shocking day in Harare with turnover amounting to a paltry $13k.
