A quiet day in Gaborone, nothing of note to report.

Egypt: EGX 30 +1.92%, USD 148m

The market managed to regain its bullish momentum pushing the EGX30 to breach long awaited resistance of 8,400 level, leaving the EGX30 to end the day up 1.92% to close at 8,466.85 points. Market volumes improved significantly compared to recent turnovers, the market traded at total turnover of USD 148m. After the market witnessed a very healthy IPO(ACC) a sense of optimism has spread amongst investors, were name such as ESRS, HRHO and COMI managed to trade above average volumes leaving each to end the day up 3.26%, 2.25% and 2.22% respectively. The real-estate sector managed regain very strong interest, were investors targeted names such as TMGH, PHDC and OCDI leaving each to end the day up 3.84%, 2.78% and 3.17% respectively.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.69%, USD 6.87m

A generally muted day in Nairobi today with foreign investors notably absent. About the only name that foreign investors participated in was Safcom with the name losing 1.9% to KES 12.60 with foreign investors heavily involved on both sides. The second most active name was the normally illiquid Liberty Insurance which saw a chunky local cross while another sizeable local cross in CFC Stanbic was also noted. General market trading was quiet with the usual suspects like Equity Bank, KNCB and EABL very dull.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.17%, USD 1.19m

The banks saw the lion’s share of activity today. Both of them were soft with MCBG losing 23bps to Rs 214 while SBM shed 97bps to Rs 1.02. The rest of the Sem-7 was strong with gains for NMH (+60bps), Alteo (+1.16%), ENL Land (+1.50%) and IBL (+47bps).

Nigeria: ASI +0.47%, USD 27.9m

It was a much better day in Lagos as value traded increased to $27.9m. The main drivers behind activity were Zenith ($8.48m), NB ($2.52m), GTB ($2.23m) and Nestle ($1.77m). Banks had another good day with the Index gaining +0.76% thanks to the likes of UBA (+3.72%), Access (+3.16%) and Zenith (+1.70%). Consumers (+0.89%) also had a good day with NB (+2.28%) and UACN (+1.13%) driving the sector higher.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.67%, USD 962k

Activity dropped off in Harare with value traded amounting to USD 962k with Delta ($478k) and Seedco ($196k) driving turnover while 243k Econet traded. The market closed the day lower with the Industrial Index falling -0.67%. Delta released 2014 results late in the afternoon which saw EBITDA increase 2%.
