Botswana: DCI +1.29%, USD 3.3m

A huge day in Gaborone as turnover was mainly geared towards Letshego. The counter traded a total of 9.1m shares to close at 348t. Other counters traded smalls in the market.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.32%, USD 8.9m

It was a better day from a turnover point of view (turnover rose by 52%) as foreigners continue to dominate the market. Safaricom and KCB were the most actively traded names in the session. The latter closed down by 0.3% at KES60.50 on the back of poor Q1-15 results. Safaricom gained 0.3% to close at KES17.55 before the release of its FY15 figures which are expected tomorrow. Other movers included Equity Bank (-3.6%, KES47.25), BAT (unch, KES720) and ARM (+0.6%, KES80).

Mauritius: Semdex -0.16%, USD 1.5m

Turnover was mainly geared towards SBM (accounted for 63.1% towards turnover). The dominant banking stocks, MCB and SBM closed unchanged at Rs202.50 and Rs0.93 after trading a today of 39k and 36m shares respectively. ENL Land and Terra closed soft after as measly trades were registered in the name.

Nigeria: ASI -0.50%, USD 17.3m

Generally the market was quiet outside of some notable crosses in Vitafoam (20m at N5.95) and Flourmills (4m at N35). The banking index weathered the storm (banking names were trading soft early on) to close up by 0.06% on the back of gains in sector heavies GTB (+0.35%, N28.70) and Zenith Bank (+0.28%, N21.36). NB (-2.55%, N153) was the worst performing consumer stock with most names closing unchanged Consumer index shed 1.13%. Top movers included GTB ($2.1), UBA ($2.9), Zenith Bank ($2m) and Transcorp ($2.3m).

Zimbabwe: Industrials +0.30%, USD 2.2m

Delta (+0.02%, 105.02c), Econet (-0.52%, 47.98c) and Afdis (+10%, 50c) were the most actively traded counters in the session. The counters traded a total of 952k, 1.2m and 812k shares respectively.
