Movers & Shakers: August 11, 2016

Botswana: DCI -0.37%, USD 720k

Another decent day in Gaborone (relatively speaking) thanks mostly to some activity in Choppies and Letshego as 949k shares and 946k shares changed hands in the names respectively.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.38%, USD 2.7m

It was another completely underwhelming day in Nairobi with Safcom and KNCB the only names worth mentioing as 3.2m shares and 1.8m shares changed hands in the names respectively.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.03%, USD 610k

A rather dull affair in Port Louis today with SBMH and LUX seeing some small activity as 10.6m shares and 85k shares changed hands in the names respectively.

Nigeria: ASI -0.51%, USD 7.9m

Another lack luster day in Lagos from an activity point of view with only GTB ($3m) and Zenith ($1.95m) moving the needle. Banks came under some pressure towards the end of the session as the sector closed -1.71% lower after Zenith (-2.50%) released dissapointing H1 2016 numbers, while GTB (-1.19%) also closed lower. Consumers (-0.39%) also closed in negative territory, albeit on tiny volume yet again.

Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.10%, USD 3.1m

The Zimbabwean market sprang back to life today. This was mostly thanks to some chunky action in Delta (66.5c).
