An impressive day in Gaborone thanks to a cross in Choppies as 4.3m shares changed hands in the name.
Another dull day on the activity front in Nairobi with Safcom (-0.5%) once again completely dominating turnover while there was also some small activity in the usually illiquid KenolKobil. Unfortunately the other market heavyweights were dead quiet with nothing to report.
There were a raft of results released today with the highlight being MCBG's H1 2017 numbers which saw PAT increase by 7.97%, and as per usual, the name was the most active on the day with 147k shares changing hands.
Nothing much to report from Lagos except that NB and Nestle continue to plummet. Both stocks were rather active with Nestle shedding 3.91% to N600.00 while NB closed down 4.99% to N112.82. These names dragged the consumers down 3.29%. Banks had a quieter day with no stocks particularly active as the sector fell by 75bps.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Some tiny activity in Delta, Barclays and Pearl tried to get things going on a slow day in Harare.
