Movers & Shakers: February 16, 2017

Botswana: DCI unch, USD 22k

Nothing to report from Gaborone.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.60%, USD 5.4m

Nothing overly exciting to write home about from Kenya as foreign participation waned slightly. For a change the most active stock was ARML (unch, KES19.25) with a chunky foreign cross going through in the name. In normal trading we saw decent action in EqBnk (+90bps, KES27.00), Safcom (-30bps, KES18.20) and EABL (unch, KES225.00).

Mauritius: Semdex -0.05%, USD 1.3m

Another solid day on the activity front in Port Louis, thanks finally to a name other than MCBG, with some action in NMH as 697k shares changed hands in the hotelier after they released Q1 2017 numbers. There was also some activity in CIEL and SBMH as 1.7m shares and 1.2m shares changed hands in the names respectively.

Nigeria: ASI -0.30%, USD 4.8m

Another insipid day of activity in Nigeria with just some late crossing in GTB (+84bps, N24.00) saving some woeful turnover. There is still no clear catalyst for the bourse so banks closed marginally positive (+40bps) while consumers shed another 1.73%. Outside of GTB, there was some gentle action in Zenith (-13bps, N14.99) and Nestle (-1bp, N599.99).

Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.95%, USD 816k

A better day in Harare thanks to some action in Delta ($787k) while the rest of the market was dead quiet.
