Movers & Shakers: February 18, 2016

Botswana: DCI -0.08%, USD 74k

Nothing to report from Gaborone.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.28%, USD 5.9m

Foreign participants were net sellers for the 3rd consecutive session. The main action today took place in Safcom as the telco gained 30bps to KES15.60. This was thanks to strong local demand in the name. EABL also saw some crosses yet closed unchanged at KES281.00. Elsewhere the market was eerily quiet.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.53%, USD 12.13m

Another extremely active day in Mauritius thanks to some massive crosses yet again in NMH (-6.1%, Rs23.00). In normal trading there was mild action in MCBG (-50bps, Rs208.00) and SBMH (unch, Rs0.67).

Nigeria: ASI +0.85%, USD 4.8m

We are really scraping the bottom of the barrel now as virtually nothing exciting happened all day. Banks rose by 1.44% although outside of Zenith (-9bps, N11.39) the sector was extremely dull. Consumers rose by 1.69% but volumes across the sector were abysmal. There was nothing else of note to report on.

Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.

Zimbabwe: Industrials: -0.29%, USD 337k

Another cross in OK Zim ($186k) was the only small highlight of the day in Harare as turnover continues to underwhelm.
