Some action in FNBB (380t) the only activity in Gaborone today.
With many Kenyans deciding to take a long weekend we expectedly saw a dull session. As locals have also been the bulk of the buying recently we also saw a soft market. However, the only large cap that actually closed lower was KNCB which fell by 1.2% to KES41.25. Equity Bank (KES41.75), EABL (KES277) and Safcom (KES16.05) all closed the day unchanged.
A woefully dull day in Port Louis with just some mild action in the banks.
The rally in the banks after the MPC announcements' earlier in the week has just not materialized. The sector (-1.28%) was the main drag on the ASI (-29bps) with almost all names bar FBNH (+9%, N5.45) closing in the red. Activity was once again dominated by GTB (-2.14%, N20.55), Zenith (-1.35%, N15.40) and FBNH. Consumers gained 1.02% although activity in the sector was virtually nil. Elsewhere we saw action in Dangcem (-1.24%, N158.00) and UACN (-1.70%, N26.00).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
The highlight of the day was Econet which traded approximately 1.2m shares at a stable price of 18c. Outside of this there was very little activity.
