Another dire day in Gaborone with turnover amounting to a paltry USD 23k.

Egypt: EGX 30 +0.93%, USD 81m

The Egyptian market rallied 0.93% today to close at 9534 points on lower than average volumes of USD 81m. CCAP (+0.45%) posted strong top line 2Q2014 results with a positive EBITDA at EGP181.2 million relative to a loss of EGP15.6 million the previous year. GTHE (-0.96%) sold a stake in Wind Canada to Globalive Capital for a total consideration of USD122 million. COMI surged 1.75% with 865 million shares changing hands. Institutional investors were 37.30% of market participation, while foreign institutions ended the day as net sellers for the second day worth EGP48.4 million.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.66%, USD 17.7m

A very active day in Kenya with a number of crosses dominating the day with local investors still dominant. There was active trading in the large caps such as KNCB (+90bps, KES59.00), Safcom (+90bps, KES12.85), Equity Bank (+1%, KES53.00) and EABL (-40bps, KES281). Smaller cap names also saw some decent activity in the likes of Diamond Trust (unch, KES255.00), Bamburi (-60bps, KES156) and KPLL (unch, KES14.50).

Mauritius: Semdex +0.06%, USD 790k

Activity slowed down quite drastically in Port Louis today with turnover amounting to a dull USD 790k. It was very dull in MCBG and SBM with 42k shares and 380k shares changing hands in the names respectively

Nigeria: ASI -0.30%, USD 25.9m

A generally dull day with a large cross in Diamond Bank (majority of sell was local, foreign buyer) the main talking point. Banks slid by 51bps for the day with ETI profit taking (-3.13%, N19.20) the main drag on the sector. Outside of Diamond Bank (+1.25%, N6.47) there was some activity in FBNH, GTB and Zenith. Cosnumers also fell by 51bps with activity focused on NB (-64bps, N175) and Nestle (unch, N1010). Active trading in Oando yet again (-2.76%, N24.30).

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.61%, USD 995k

Turnover failed to break the $1m mark today with total value traded amounting to USD 995k with some action in Delta ($394k) and Econet ($183k). The market closed the day lower with the Industrial Index falling -0.61%.
