It was a better day in Gaborone as value traded amounted to USD 688k thanks to Choppies (1.13m shares) and Letshego (1.05m shares) while the rest of the market was very quiet.
The market traded on mixed sentiment leaving the EGX30 to end the day up 1.69% to close at 7,899.46 points. Market volumes improved significantly today compared to recent turnovers, with a total turnover of USD 139m. Institutional investors (local and international) stepped in as notable buyers targeting AMER, HRHO, and ETEL with eat up 5.56%, 2.22%, and 1.92%, respectively. A local newspaper stated that the government may auction ETEL's stake in Vodafone Egypt. CCAP managed to gain interest today after the company announced a EGP3.64 billion rights offer was fully subscribed, with the stock ended the day up 5.98% on strong volumes.
Activity picked up today as value traded amounted to USD 7.4m with foreigners (56.2%) dominating proceedings. Foreigners drove activity on both sides of EABL as a total of 533k shares traded in the brewer. KenolKobil (-5.8%) came under pressure after the oil marketer reported FY 2013 results with foreigners dominating activity in the counter. Foreign purchases drove Safcom 2.4% higher to close at KES 12.75 on 7.22m shares. Liberty surged 10.7% after the insurer released FY13 results and announced a scrip dividend of KES 1.00.
It was a fairly average day in Port Louis as value traded amounted to USD 1.08m thanks largely to SBM as a total of 14.7m shares traded while only 26k shares changed hands in MCBG. Activity increased in NMH today as 40k shares traded in the hotelier.
It was a fair day in Lagos from an activity point of view as value traded amounted to $23.27m. The usual suspects Zenith ($3.91m), NB ($3.17m), ETI ($2.54m) and GTB ($2.31m) drove activity. There was some profit taking in banking stocks as the Index fell -0.79% with Access (-3.85%) dragging the sector lower while Diamond Bank (-4.89%) came under pressure after releasing Q1 2014 results. Consumers (+0.07%) managed to close the day higher with good performances in UACN (+3.36%), Cadbury (+3.01%) and Guinness (+1.06%).

Not much on the go in Harare today as value traded amounted to USD 561k. There was some activity in Innscor ($195k) and Barclays ($103k) while Delta ($63k) and Econet ($24k) were very quiet. The market closed the day lower with the Industrial Index falling -0.38%.
