Movers & Shakers: May 17, 2016

Botswana: DCI -0.10%, USD 194k

Not much on the go in Gaborone today with some small action in FNBB as 520k shares changed hands.

Kenya: NSE 20 -1.03%, USD 2.3m

Another extremely dull day in Nairobi as local investors dominated proceedings. Safcom (-1.2%) tried to get things going as 4.5m shares traded in the telco, but unfortunately failed to do so. The market heavyweights EABL, KNCB and EQBNK failed to impress from an activity point of view.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.28%, USD 730k

A better day in Port Louis but still nothing to write home about with some activity in MCBG as 79k shares changed hands, the only name worth mentioning.

Nigeria: ASI -0.61%, USD 13.2m

A better day in terms of activity in Lagos but turnover remains well below par with total value traded amounting to $13.2m. There was some action in the likes of Zenith ($2.5m), GTB ($2.5m), Access ($1.4m), UBA ($1.3m) and Oando ($1m). There was some profit taking in baking stocks today after the sector had enjoyed a decent rally of late with the Index closing -1.35% lower with losses in Zenith (-3.93%), Access (-3.07%) and GTB (-0.89%). Consumers (+0.51%) managed to close in positive territory thanks to NB (+1.64%).

Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.

Zimbabwe: Industrials +1.39%, USD 218k

Another quiet day in Harare. Some action in Econet (22.01c) about the only event worth noting.
