Movers & Shakers: October 08, 2015

Botswana: DCI +0.04%, USD 334k

A much quieter day in Gaborone with some activity in Letshego (814k shares) the only name worth mentioning.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.74%, USD 2.7m

Another ridiculously quiet day in Nairobi in the absence of the previous day’s bookovers. Foreign activity remains quiet and skewed to the buy side.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.44%, USD 1.1m

Things slowed down in Port Louis today as turnover amounted to $1.1m with most of the action centered around MCBG (153k shares) as the name accounted for 78% of activity. Tourist arrivals increased 13.3% in September (from the previous year).

Nigeria: ASI -0.06%, USD 9.5m

The Nigerian bourse continues to underwhelm with the market barely breaking a sweat in today’s session. The banks fell by 64bps although outside of Zenith Bank (-1.53%, N16.05) and GTB (-17bps, N23.00) the sector was dull. There was an early cross in Dangcem (unch, N167.00) while the consumers (+21bps) were eerily quiet.

Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.24%, USD 2.2m

A much better day in Harare as turnover amounted to $2.2m thanks to crosses in Econet ($1.2m), Delta ($455k) and OK Zim ($263k).
