Movers & Shakers: October 16, 2015

Botswana: DCI -0.12%, USD 937k

A decent end to the week in Gaborone thanks to Letshego as 2.66m shares traded in the name.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.85%, USD 11.3m

Another respectable day in Nairobi from an activity viewpoint as for the second time this week it surpassed Nigeria. More pleasingly, it was the first positive day for the bourse after 6 straight negative sessions. Foreigners still remain heavily dominant on both sides of the equation. On the open there was a chunky cross in BATK (local seller, foreign buyer) while in normal trading the usual suspects were again the focus. Both the banks were strong with KNCB closing at KES41.75 (+1.2%) while Equity Bank closed unchanged at KES41.00. Safcom ended the day at KES14.55 (+1%) while EABL closed unchanged at KES253.00.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.34%, USD 880k

A rather pedestrian end to the week in Port Louis with total value traded amounting to $880k with some activity in MCBG (85k shares) the only name worth mentioning.

Nigeria: ASI +0.45%, USD 11.1m

A dull end to a dull week in Lagos although the index did find a small bid. Banks rose by 1.54% with activity heavily centered in GTB (+2.04%, N23.51). Most names closed in the green. Consumers ended the day marginally positive but the sector was so quiet its almost like it was closed. Outside of the normal names there was a large cross in Okomu Oil.

Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.

Zimbabwe: Industrials +0.23%, USD 157k

Not much to report on the final trading day of the week with turnover amounting to a dull $157k.
