The little volume the stock exchange experience was divided across 2 names, BTCL ($19k) and WIL($20k) accounting for 75% of the market.

Kenya: NSE 20 -1.41%, USD 7.84m

Safcom unchanged on high volumes to close the day 33% of total market turnover showing some weakness towards the end of the session. Other counters to mention are BATK (+1.13%, KES809.00) and EABL (-0.41%, KES245.00). Foreigners once again leading the way with 84% of the market sales and 74.2% on the buy side.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.20%, USD 60k

A slight improvement on a slow day in Mauritius, all the indices closed in the green with turnover amounting to Rs91.2m geared towards Greenbay Properties (unch, Rs0.15) making 43% of the market which was driven by foreign investors. The market was helped on by MCBG (+0.4%, Rs278.00) and SBM (-0.5%, 7.80).

Nigeria: ASI -0.34%, USD 5.16m

The downward momentum continued in Lagos today as the NSE ASI shed 34pbs with no name managing to reach the $1m mark. The industrials closed in positive territory (+0.15%), while the bankings and consumers shed (-0.15%) and (-1.08 %) respectively. Losses recorded in Skye (-3.85%, N0.50), Stanbic (-2.32%, N40.05), Unity Bank (-1.89%, N0.52) and UBA (-1.71%, N9.18) depressed the banking sector index. Also, losses recorded in NB (-2.90%, N164.00) and Dangsugar (-0.87%, N13.65) depressed the consumer sector index. The most actively traded stocks today were Zenith ($738k) and Nestle ($672k.)

Zimbabwe: Industrials +3.95%, USD 7.05m

Some decent activity across the board on the Harare bourse today. Old Mutual (1,398.18c, $3m) leading the way accounting for 43% of total market turnover. Econet (161.10c, $1.9m) totalling 26% of the market, Padenga (85.00c, $638k), Seedco (288.63c, $422k) and Axia (29.00c, $290k) all driving the stock exchange in an upward motion.
