Movers & Shakers: March 02, 2017

Botswana: DCI, +0.60% USD 221k

Some sporadic activity in a few names tried to get things going to no avail.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.10%, USD 5.5m

The Kenyan bourse inched higher today although volumes still remain somewhat low. Once again Safcom dominated the charts with some lumpy crosses (mostly foreign) going through. The telco slid by a further 29bps to KES 17.00. EABL (-90bps, KES 219.00) also witnessed one nice cross but outside of that the brewer was quiet. The rest of the market was quiet.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.05%, USD 2.1m

A very active day in Port Louis thanks to some action in SBMH as 4.8m shares changed hands in the name while 77k MCBG traded.

Nigeria: ASI -1.40%, USD 5.5m

Another dull and boring day in Nigeria with interest continuing to wane. Banks (+11bps) were mostly unchanged with only Zenith bank (-71bps, N13.90) seeing any decent action yet again. The consumers closed 71bps higher although outside of Guinness (+2.24%, N63.50) the sector was quiet.

Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.02%, USD 479k

Some activity in the local Econet rights ($334k) the only name worth mentioning as the rest of the market was dead quiet.
