A slight improvement on the Botswana stock exchange today with activity heavily focused on Letshego and Sefalana, the counters accounted for 48% and 26% of turnover respectively.
The market continued its bearish trend with foreigners accounting for 67.4% of total sales. Foreigners once again were mainly involved in Safcom (+1.00%, KES25.25), Centum (unch, KES41.00) and KCB (+1.79%, KES42.75) whilst locals were taking advantage of the lower prices in NIC Bank (+1.26%, KES40.25). Safcom continued to be the most actively traded counter accounting for 55% of total market turnover.
Activity was spread across the board today in Port Louis with MCBG (unch, Rs275.00), Rogers (unch, Rs29.00) and Omnicane (unch, Rs58.75) being the majors participants in the market. The other risers worth mentioning are SBM gaining 50bps to Rs7.80 and Sun Resorts up 190bps to Rs45.00.
Things went from bad to worse on the Nigerian bourse with not a single counter breaking the $1m barrier. We saw weakening in Nestle dropping by 320bps to N1,255.01 and Stanbic down 125bps to N39.50. The gainers worth mentioning are Access up 10bps to N9.73, Guaranty improving 42bps to N38.70 and Dangcem the major mover up 369bps to N213.39.

The industrial index eased for the third consecutive day, dropping 1,13% while volumes remain decent. Top notable contributors included Delta ($622k), Econet ($535k), Old Mutual ($467k) and Simbisa ($360k).
