FPC(+0.05%, $981k) traded 97% of the market turnover today closing at 2.50t the only counter woth mentioning.
A very dull day in Nairobi today with the market turnover down to a mere $2.3m. The NSE 20 share index was also down 0.35%. Foreign investor participation improved to 53.9% compared to yesterday’s 39.6%, accounting for 72.89% of total buying and 34.9% of total selling. Safaricom was the top mover on the back of active foreign buying. The counter however closed 1.94% lower at KES25.25.
The Semdex strengthened for the second consecutive day, rising 0.13% while volumes remain decent. Activity was spread across the board with the likes of MCBG (unch, Rs287.00), SBM (-0.5%, Rs7.90), NMH (unch, Rs23.00), Lux (unch, Rs62.50) and Terra (unch, 29.50) contributing to the strengthening of the index.
Half of today’s activity was dominated by Dangcem ($3.3mn) which had a number of crosses done by foreigners and Wapco ($2.0mn) which crossed 4m shares involving a foreign buyer and local seller. The banking Index closed in positive territory (+1.35%) sustained by Zenith (+3.51%, N23.30), Unity Bank (+3.45%, N0.60), GTB (+2.04%, N40.00) and Stanbic (+0.63%, N40.00). The consumer sector was also up sustained by gains in PZ (+4.00%, N26.00), Intbrew (+2.78%, N37.00), Nestle (+1.23%, N1,225) and NB (+0.30%, N166.00).

Things slowed down in Zimbabwe today with some activity in Innscor (178.08c, $863k) 45% of the market, after reporting 11% increase in net income for FY2017. Delta (278.56c, $694k) 36% of turnover and Padenga (90.13c, $127k) the major drivers on the bourse.
