An absolute shocker of a day in Gaborone on the back of thin volumes.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.20%, USD 4.5m

Activity remained low throughout the session as foreigners were the dominant players once again (accounted for 51.7% of turnover). The most actively traded stocks were KCB (unch, KES64), Safcom (+0.3%, KES17.25) and EABL (-1.2%, KES330) as foreigners participated heavily on both sides of the counters. BATK was the top performer, gaining 7.8% to close at KES785 after trading a measly 5k shares.

Mauritius: Semdex +0.10%, USD 830k

Indices are making a promising recovery as most of them closed the session in the green. Total turnover was mainly geared towards SBM which accounted for 50%. The latter recouped previous weeks losses to gain 1.1% at Rs0.92 after 16.2m shares were traded in the name whilst its MCBG closed the session flat at Rs199.00.

Nigeria: ASI -0.78%, USD 13.6m

A dire day in Lagos with local and foreign investors both lacking interest. Banks did manage to close in the green although there was nothing much to note as most names hugged their opening prices. There was some action in the likes of Stanbic (unch, N29.00) and Zenith (+87bps, N23.20). Consumers were slightly soft although outside of NB (-28bps, N160.84) nothing was happening.

Zimbabwe: Industrials +0.45%, USD 440k

A slow start to the week in Harare as turnover only amounted to a paltry 440k.Top trades included RTG ($121k), Ok Zim ($82) and Zimplow ($81), closing at 1.50c, 11c and 6.50c respectively. Delta, Innscor and Econet traded meager volumes during the session.
