The market was quiet.
There was a slight improvement in activity as foreigners returned to the market (foreign participation increased to 58.7% compared to 53.7% in the previous session). EABL (-0.3%, KES319), Britam (-2.2%, KES21.75) Equity Bank (unch, KES49.50) and Safaricom (+0.6%, KES17.20) were the most actively traded names in the session. Centum was the days top performer as the counter closed up by 1.6% at KES62 whilst Uchumi (-4.2%, KES 10.20) was amongst the leading losers.
SBM was the most actively traded counter as 52.7m shares traded in the name. The counter closed strong at RS0.92 (2.2%) although most trades were executed at Rs0.91. MCBG closed up by 0.5% at Rs199 as a total of 252k shares were traded in the name.
Activity in the market was subdued as foreign participation remains scarce - this trend may continue until new government takes over on the 29 th of May 2015. The Banking index retreated by 1.12% due to losses in FBNH (-3.75%, N10), UBA (-3.53%, N4.92), Zenith Bank (-1.82, N21.60 and Access Bank (-3.04, N6.06). The Consumer index also closed down by 0.70% on the back of measly volumes in most names. PZ and Guinness were the top sector performers closing strong at N30 (0.50%) and N160.28 (0.15%) respectively.

It was a quiet session which saw some pockets of activity in CBZH (unch, 10c) and Econet (unch, 49c) , trading a total of 360k and 179k shares respectively. Delta closed flat at 105c on the back of 38k shares traded.
