Turnover finally showed some signs of life in Nairobi thanks to some increased participation from foreign investors. Strong foreign buying in Safcom (+1%, KES14.85) and KNCB (+2.6%, KES59.00) were the main drivers of the market both in terms of direction and turnover. There was also improved activity in the likes of Equity Bank (+1.5%, KES50.50), Centum (+5.3%, KES69.00) and EABL (unch, KES305).
MCBG and NMH accounted for 56.4% of total volume traded. MCBG traded 165k shares closing at a price of Rs195 while NMH saw a cross of 167k shares to close at Rs76. PBL continued its run, reaching a new all time high of Rs255, while the rest of the counters hobbled behind.
The red screens continue unabated in Nigeria while volumes remain on the thin side. Banks fell by 4.46% as selling in every name in the sector took place. Activity was focused on the likes of Zenith (-4.99%, N15.60) and GTB (-4.94%, N18.30). Consumers (-55bps) were also soft although a strong outperformance in PZ (+10%, N27.21) gave the sector a leg up. The bulk of the activity took place in NB (-72bps, N138.00) and Nestle (-6bps, N798.50). Dangcem saw some good action today yet also took a pounding as it fell by 9.19% to N151.10. The oil sector saw some decent trading with Oando (+2.42%, N16.50) and Forte Oil (+2.02%, N227.00) leading the way.

Paltry volumes continue to be the order of the day in Harare. BAT had the highest turnover , USD 288k on the back of 20,000 shares traded. Other notable contributors were Delta (22,000 shares) and Seedco (25,154 shares), closing at a price of 107c and 97.50c respectively.
