Trades in Letshego steered activity, as the counter closed with a daily turnover of USD 293k.
An extremely dull start to the week in Nairobi with turnover amounting to a paltry $2.8m with foreigners notably absent from the market. There was some foreign participation in KNCB as the counter closed unchanged on 1m shares. There were two large foreign crosses in UMME as 1.68m shares changed hands in the counter. Locals drove proceedings in Kenya Power as 1.93m sharees traded.
A very quiet start to the week as MCBG gained 1.0% to close at RS198.00 on a volume of 55,000 shares. SBM stumbled to a low of Rs1.00 before closing flat at Rs1.01 on the back of 1.3m shares. After reaching its all time high of Rs248 last week, PBL managed to maintain its upward momentum until today. The Stock lost 0.2% to close at Rs269.50 on the back of 1.5k shares traded.
Another rather sluggish start to the week in Lagos as turnover amounted to $18.5m with some crosses in NB ($2.74m), GTB ($2.44m), Seplat ($1.96m), Zenith ($1.47m) and FBNH ($1.16m). The rally in banking stocks continued with the sector gaining +5.13% thanks to GTB (+9.94%), Zenith (+4.98%), ETI (+4.11%) and UBA (+3.98%). Consumers (+2.90%) were also very strong with good performances in NB (+5.04%) and Nestle (+4.86%).

The market opened on a poor note as only 9 counters registered trades. Notable movers were Delta (+0.9%), closing at 111c on a volume of 52,490 shares and Seedco closed the day unchanged at 100c on a volume of 330,307 shares.
