Botswana: Market closed for the day.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.97%, USD 12.5m

An active start to Q3 in Kenya as foreign appetite returned. As usual the core of the action was focused in the large cap names with most of these generally weak. EqBnk fell by -3.2% (KES46.00) and KNCB fell by -1.8% (KES54.00). EABL was the most active stock after benefitting from some crosses as the brewer closed down -2% at KES298.00. Safcom was the only large cap to gain as we witnessed the telco close +0.30% higher at KES16.50.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.40%, USD 2.05m

A very solid day in Port Louis as turnover amounted to $2.05m thanks to some good activity in LUX (297k shares), SBMH (18.7m shares) and MCBG (77k shares). The two major banks ended the day lower with MCBG and SBMH falling -1.4% and -1.1% respectively.

Nigeria: ASI -1.77%, USD 23.6m

A weak start to the quarter in Lagos as both banks (-102bps) and consumers (-91bps) closed in the red while volumes were spread across a variety of names for a change. All Tier 1 banks closed in the red with chunky volumes seen in Zenith (-21bps, N19.21), GTB (-22bps, N26.95) and Access (-407bps, N5.42). Consumers were led by NB (-99bps, N148.50) and Nestle (-82bps, N850.00). We also saw some volume in Oando (-64bps, N15.60).

Zimbabwe: Industrials -1.01%, USD 1.54m

A much better day in Harare as turnover amounted to $1.54m thanks to some action in ECO ($718k), Innscor ($473k) and DZL (170k) while the market closed lower with the ASI falling -1.01%.
