Movers & Shakers: July 09, 2015

Botswana: DCI +0.02%, USD 417k

A cross in Letshego (1.25m shares) the only name worth mentioning as turnover amounted to $417k.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.17%, USD 21.8m

Another chunky day of action in the large caps with foreigners heavily active on both sides. Safcom was yet again the most active stock as it closed down 90bps at KES16.00. There was also some chunky foreign crossing in EABL (-1.4%, KES276). The major banking groups were both trending weaker although Equity Bank ended the day unchanged at KES45.00 with a couple of crosses going through at that level. KNCB ended the day at KES54.50 (-90bps).

Mauritius: Semdex -0.26%, USD 730k

Activity dropped off a cliff today as turnover fell to $730k with no real action in the bigger names.

Nigeria: ASI -0.82%, USD 21.2m

A much more active day in Lagos as the number of crosses going through was significantly higher than in previous sessions. Volumes still remain below historical norms though. Banks continue to freefall as they lost another 1.32% with almost all the action in the sector taking place in Zenith ($6.9m) while GTB also saw some mild action. All banks did close in the red however as sentiment remains weak. Consumers fell by 1.35% with most names closing in the red on generally dull volumes. There was a large cross in Dangcem (-2.15%, N168.30).

Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.78%, USD 729k

Nothing much to write home about as turnover amounted to $729k thanks to crosses in Delta ($284k) and Old Mutual ($154k).
