Nothing to report from Gaborone.
A sub-par day in Nairobi after yesterday's market closure due the Eid celebrations with foreigners accounting for the bulk of activity as locals opted to take the day off for the long weekend. Safcom was the day's most active counter as 8.5m shares changed hands in the telco. Both major banking stocks ended the day unchanged but on very low volume as 2.8m shares traded in KNCB while EQBNK saw 947k shares change hands. A small cross in EABL helped boost acitivity in the brewer as 276k shares traded.
Not the worst day that we have ever seen in Mauritius from an activity point of view with the usual suspect MCBG driving proceedings as 116k shares changed hands in the name while the rest of the market was very quiet.
A dull end to a very uneventful week in Lagos with the market being closed from Tuesday to Thursday as a result of the Eid celebrations. There was some small activity in GTB ($2.6m) while the rest of the market was extremely dull from an activity point of view with nothing to report. Banking stocks closed the day lower with the sector falling -1.56% as GTB closed -0.65% softer while most of the tier-2 banking stocks closed limit down. Consumers (-0.35%) also closed slightly lower with some pressure on GSK (-9.73%), albeit on tiny volume.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Not a bad day to end the week from an activity point of view in Harare thanks to some activity in SeedCo ($623k) as 1m shares changed hands.
