A rather dull day in Gaborone with some small activity in Letshego the only name worth mentioning as 649k shares traded.
A rather average day in Nairobi as foreigners continue to dominate proceedings with a large foreign cross in the usually illiquid KenolKobil as 26.4m shares changed hands in the name. EQBNK (+3.3%) had a very strong day from a performance point of view thanks to foreign demand as 4.9m shares traded while KNCB closed the day -0.8% lower. Not much on the go in Safcom as 4.9m shares traded.
Some punchy buying in SBMH (+4.6%, Rs0.68) was the main driver of the market today although volumes in the name were still relatively small.
A better day in Lagos but still wel below par from an activity point of view with crosses in GTB ($3.3m), DangCem ($2.7m), NB ($2.5m), Access ($2m) and UBA ($1.9m) driving proceedings. Banking stocks managed to close the day higher with the sector gaining +1.98% after MPC decided to increase the MPR to 14% yesterday. There were some good performances in GTB (+4.98%) and Zenith (+2.50%). Consumers (-1.60%) closed the day lower with NB (-4.46%) dragging the sector lower.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Another dull day in Harare with nothing of note to report back on.
