There was some action in Choppies today at 405t while there was also some decent activity in the normally very illiquid Turnstar (201t).
Activity increased today on the back of a rise in foreign participation (67.7%) with turnover amounting to $7.2m. Foreign demand in Safcom (+1.2%) continues to drive the telco higher as 17.53m shares traded in the name. The two major banks ended the day mixed as EQBNK gained +0.5% while KNCB closed -0.9% lower on average volume. There was also continued foreign demand in EABL as the brewer gained +0.3% on 108k shares.
Another weak day in Port Louis while volumes remain decent. MCBG continues to soften and closed down a further 24bps at Rs206.50 while SBMH ended the day unchanged at Rs1.03.
Another very active day in Lagos as turnover amounted to a very impressive $40.4m while there was no respite in the selling as the ASI fell by -3.68%. There was some action in the likes of Zenith ($8.39m), GTB ($6.40m), FBNH ($4.80m), NB ($3.81m) and Nestle ($3.08m). Banks continued to fall with FBNH (-7.03%), ETI (-4.89%), GTB (-4.00%) and Access (-2.63%) coming under pressure. Consumers (-2.66%) were also very weak as PZ Cussons (-9.73%), Cadbury (-8.47%) and Flour Mills (-5.00%) continued to slide. There was also weakness in WAPCO and DangCem as the names fell -5.00% each.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A more respectable day on the Harare bourse. There was decent action in the likes of Seedco (91c), Econet (70c) and Delta (115c).
