Nothing on the go in Gaborone as turnover amounted to USD 98k.
It was a mostly quiet day in Nairobi except for 2 chunky crosses. The crosses were in BATK (local buyer) and EABL (both sides foreign). EABL closed down 70bps at N274. In normal trading the bulk of the action was in Equity Bank (+1%, KES49.25) and KNCB (+90bps, KES58.50). There was also some mild activity in CFC (unch, KES126.00) and ARML (+3.5%, KES89.50).
A much better day in Port Louis as turnover increased to USD 2.12m with some action in the likes of Sun Resorts (310k shares), SBMH (12.7m shares), Gamma Civic (150k shares) and Terra (200k shares).
The day started off solidly enough with the banks actually marginally positive early in the session. The selling persisted as the session wore on though with the sector eventually closing down 1.30%. FNBH was the biggest loser as it lost 6.47% to N11.28 while there were also big losses in GTB (-4.29%, N27.89) and UBA (-4.93%, N5.59). Zenith went totally against the grain as some very aggressive buying pushed the stock up 3.37% to N22.10. Consumers had another bad day as the sector lost 1.40%. On decent volumes there was weakness in NB (-1.72%, N171.00) and Nestle (-2.00%, N980). Oando closed down 5% at N23.28 on decent volume.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
A rather average day in Harare as turnover amounted to USD 948k with some activity in Delta ($389k), Econet ($117k) and Truworths ($112k). The market closed the day lower with the Industrial Index falling -0.06%.
