Nothing to report from Gaborone.
A very dull start to the week in Nairobi as locals remain on the sidelines. Almost the entire action today took place in EABL which has actually had a couple of quiet weeks. The brewer slid by 70bps to KES281 on the back of some foreign crossing. Elsewhere there was some gentle activity in Safcom (-30bps, KES16.80) while the rest of the market was dead.
Another sub-par start to the week in Port Louis with some action in Alteo the only name worth mentioning as 575k shares changed hands.
The lack of interest in the Nigerian bourse continues as volumes remain woefully inadequate. Both the banks (-86bps) and consumers (-2.33%) lost ground yet again. Banks were led, as usual, by GTB (-1.96%, N14.01) and Zenith (-91bps, N10.88). Consumers were dragged lower by NB (-3.55%, N102.61) although volumes across the board were uneventful.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Another slow day in Harare with some small activity in Simbisa ($125k) and SeedCo ($101k) while the market continues to drift lower.
