Another dreadful day in terms of activity in Gaborone.
Another average day in Nairobi with foreign selling slowing down for the first time in a few sessions as the market managed to close +1.06% higher. Profit taking in Safcom continued for the second day in a row as the telco fell -1.7% on 12.2m shares. There was finally a bit of activity in EABL as the brewer managed to close +1.4% higher on foreign demand as 372k shares traded. A local cross drove activity in the usually illiquid StanChart with 277k shares changing hands while the two major banking stocks EQBNK and KNCB were rather quiet.
Another dull day to end the week in Port Louis with MCBG (34k shares) once again the only name worth mentioning.
A slightly better day in terms of activity, but still nothing to write home about as turnover increased to $7.5m with some activity in NB ($1.9m) thanks to a cross early in the session and GTB ($1.8m). Banking stocks closed the day lower as the sector fell -0.97% with some weakness in Access (-3.77%) and UBA (-3.71%). Consumers (-0.52%) also closed in negative territory thanks to Guinness (-1.84%) after they released rather dissapointing Q3 2016 numbers.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Aa better day in Harare, but still nothing to write home about, thanks to some action in the likes of Dawn ($318k), Delta ($124k), Old Mutual ($167k) and NatFoods ($118k).
