A rather average day in Gaborone as total value traded amounted to $329k thanks mostly to some action in Stanchart as 165k shares traded in the name.
Foreigners heavily dominant once again in Nairobi as the absence of any local buying interest continues to hurt the NSE. Volumes today were mostly focused in KNCB (-2%, KES49.00), Safcom (-1.7%, KES14.15) and Equity Bank (-3.8%, KES37.75). Volumes are almost exclusively going through in crosses these days. Outside of these 3 names the market was extremely quiet.
A solid enough start to the week in Port Louis as turnover amounted to $1.69m thanks to some crosses in MCBG (150k shares) and SBMH (14.9m shares).
After a dull start the market tried to liven up as the day progressed. However, volumes still remain quiet. The index did rise marginally with both banks (+28bps) and consumers (+14bps) finally finding some strength after a torrid ride last week. Amongst the banks the bulk of the action took place in Zenith (-25bps, N16.02), GTB (+30bps, N23.06) and UBA (-95bps, N4.17). the consumers were headlined by NB (-41bps, N120.50) and Flourmills (+4.93%, N30.43).
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
Nothing to report from Harare as turnover amounted to a paltry $138k.
