Today was all about Choppies as a chunky cross went through the market at 550t (local buyer, foreign seller). The rest of the market was quiet..
A chunky cross in BATK (local seller, foreign buyer) was the bulk of the action today in Nairobi as the general market remains quiet. Safcom fell by 2.9% to KES15.00 on the second most active trading while the other large cap names were extremely dull.
A solid enough day to end the week in Port Louis as turnover amounted to $1.43m as MCBG drove proceedings with 111k shares changing hands thanks to a few crosses. There was also some activity in LUX as 117k shares traded while SBMH (4.7m shares) was very quiet.
Another pathetic day in Lagos as the lack of interest is really hurting. Banks fell by a further 2.93% today with some decent action witnessed in GTB (+1.10%, N23.05) and Zenith (+94bps, N16.08). Consumers rose by 57bps although the sector wwas eerily quiet. There was a chunky trade in the very illiquid name Mobil (-3.14%, N154.00). More than $3m changed hands in this name.
Please note that the index figure above is correct at the time of writing.
An absolute disaster in Harare from an activity point of view as turnover amounted to a paltry $28k.
