Botswana: DCI +0.41%, USD 1.26m

It was a decent day to end the week in Gaborone as value traded amounted to USD 1.26m thanks to a cross in Letshego (4.2m shares) while the rest of the market was very quiet.

Egypt: Market closed today.

Kenya: NSE 20 -0.15%, USD 9.8m

Things slowed down in Nairobi today but it was still rather active as value traded amounted to $9.8m as foreign participation accounted for 53.7% of activity. KNCB was extremely active for a second day in a row with foreigners (90.5%) dominating purchases while the name fell -1.8%. SCAN released H1 2014 results and was rather active thanks to a foreign cross as 2.21m shares traded. EABL (-3.9%) came under pressure as the brewer released their much anticipated FY 2014 results with EPS declining -3.9% to KES 8.20.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.01%, USD 3.08m

Another active day to end the week in Port Louis. The bulk of the action took place in Lottotech (+3.86%, Rs12.10) while the rest of the action was focused on the Sem-7. The Sem-7 fell by 19bps dragged lower by MCBG (-23bps, Rs214) and SBM (-93bps, Rs1.07). This was partially offset by a rise of 1.44% to Rs35.20 in Alteo.

Nigeria: ASI -0.03%, USD 23m

It was a better day in Lagos thanks to a few large foreign bookovers as value traded amounted to $23m. The biggest contributors towards turnover came in the form of Nestle ($2.66m), GTB ($2.15m), NB ($2.06m) and DangCem ($1.65m). Banks continued to gain as the Index closed +0.13% higher with FBNH (+0.72%) pushing the sector higher. Consumers (-0.51%) closed lower as NB (-1.47%) was the major drag on the sector.

Zimbabwe: Industrials +0.78%, USD 3.3m

A couple of foreign bookovers in Econet and Delta were about the only activity on yet another quiet day in Zimbabwe. Outside of these bookovers there was some mild activity in Pearl (2.81c) and BAT (1330c).
