Botswana: DCI +0.28%, USD 767k

Not a bad day in Gaborone as turnover amounted to USD 767k with a cross in Sechaba accounting for 87% of activity.

Egypt: EGX 30 -0.47%, USD 96m

A volatile trading session in the Egyptian market as the index tries to find ground following a red open. The EGX30 fell 0.47% to close at 9359 points on lower than average volumes of USD 96m. GTHE rose 0.93% ahead of an EGM today for voting on Djezzy stake sale to the Algerian government. ETEL rallied 5.04% to end the day at EGP14.39/share marking a new 8-week high on twice the average volume. SUGR gained 2.41% following the board's approval of delisting shares in Egypt. The company will be obliged to buy back shares at EGP11.59/share. Local institutions were the sole net sellers worth EGP63 million.

Kenya: NSE 20 +0.22%, USD 6.76m

A quiet day in Kenya with local investors still dominant. The most actively traded stocks today were DTKL, BATK, CFCB and NIC while the usual large cap names were quiet. In the banks we saw the main action taking place away from the 2 large names while KNCB rose by 88bps to KES 57.50. Safcom closed unchanged at KES 12.75 while EABL was extremely dead.

Mauritius: Semdex -0.14%, USD 970k

A rather slow day in Port Louis as turnover amounted to USD 970k. The smaller stocks drove proceedings today with dire volumes in the likes of MCBG, SBM and NMH.

Nigeria: ASI -0.25%, USD 12.6m

Another dull session in Lagos with foreign participation still low. Banks fell by a further 74bps with most names ending the day marginally in the red. Action was centered in Access (+62bps, N9.80) and GTB (-1.54%, N28.06). The consumers ended the day marginally weaker with Cadbury (-9.73%, N60.21) and Guinness (-2.63%, N185) partially offset by a gain in NB (+1.44%, N175). In the cements there was decent activity in Wapco (+1.69%, N120). Oando slid by 3.65% to N25.05 on decent volume.

Zimbabwe: Industrials -0.33%, USD 1.65m

A solid day in Harare with value traded amounting to USD 1.65m with some action in CBZ ($983k), Seedco ($271k) and Delta ($173k). The market closed the day lower with the Industrial Index falling -0.33%.
